We left Maple Grove yesterday and spent the night in Hinckley, Minnesota at the Grand Casino RV Park. We'd heard that it's a nice park and had never stayed there so we decided to try it. It definitely lives up to the hype. It's a very nice park; however not much to do other than hit the casino. A one nights stay is about all we'd ever do. This morning we left for Grand Marais, Minnesota via the scenic North Shore of Lake Superior. The spring melt is still rushing down all of the rivers that run into the lake so all of the falls at the different State Parks are magnificent! The first park we stopped at was Gooseberry Falls State Park. We hiked down to the Middle and Lower Falls first and then back up to the Upper Falls, which neither of us had ever been to.
Our next stop was the Cross River. The river was rushing so hard and for so far that I had to take three shots to get the whole river in.
Not more than a mile after the Crow River we came to Temperance River State Park and Gorge. Roger and I hiked a great deal at this State Park trying to get in all of its beauty.
Our trip from Hinckley to Grand Marais was only about 180 miles but it took us over 6 hours while we enjoyed the scenery. Here is what we see out our front window at the Grand Marais Municipal Campground.
After we had a great dinner of Lake Superior Whitefish and Chips at The Angry Trout we went for a 12 mile drive down the Gunflint Trail. On our drive we saw a moose and three Snowshoe Rabbits who had not lost their white legs and feet yet. What a treat to see the moose, there aren't very many left in Minnesota.
We will be off the grid in Canada for the next three days. I will post when able.
